Learn About Color Theory

Color Family Portraits Art Project

Art Project Description:
In this creative project, students will design a color family portrait using painting and collage techniques. After selecting a color family, they will paint swatches and a decorative frame, then draw and cut out faces on each color swatch to create a fun, framed portrait. Metallic paint will be used to enhance the frame and give the artwork a polished finish.

• 9x12 white construction paper
• 8x11 black construction paper
• Gold & silver metallic paint
• Watercolor or tempera paint
• Paint brushes
• Water cups
• Sharpie
• Scissors
• Glue
