Learn About Sari Shryack 

In this lesson, students will explore the colorful and vibrant world of contemporary artist Sari Shryack. Known for her bold use of color and playful, nostalgic themes, Sari creates paintings that often feature everyday scenes with a unique twist. Students will learn how Sari uses value, or the lightness and darkness of colors, to create depth and realism in her artwork. By studying Sari’s paintings, especially her disco ball series, students will discover how value can make objects look more three-dimensional. 

Disco Ball Art Project

In this fun and engaging art project, students will create a dazzling disco ball inspired by contemporary artist Sari Shryack. After learning about Sari’s colorful artwork and how she uses value to add realism to her paintings, students will follow a step-by-step demonstration to draw, paint, and shade their own disco ball. Using the value scale, they will mix light and dark shades of acrylic paint to make their disco ball appear shiny and three-dimensional on a vibrant background.
