About Joaquin Torres-GarcíaJoaquín Torres-García was a famous artist from Uruguay who loved to use bright colors and simple shapes to create amazing paintings. He is known for a special style called "Constructive Universalism," which used symbols, grids, and geometric designs to tell stories.
His art often includes boats, fish, the sun, and letters, all arranged in a way that looks like a puzzle. To create your own art inspired by Torres-García, you can use bold lines, simple shapes, and symbols that represent things you love or that are important to you! |

Torres-García Symbol Art ProjectIn this project, students will create a unique artwork inspired by symbolic design. They will divide their paper into sections and fill each space with bold, meaningful symbols. Using a black Sharpie, students will outline their drawings and then paint their artwork with a limited color palette—primary colors plus black—creating a striking composition with strong contrast.
